PORTAGE (WKZO) — Just after 5 Wednesday morning, Portage Fire/rescue had to extricate a woman from the crumpled wreckage of her car after she slammed into a bridge abutment.
She was southbound on U.S. 131 when for some reason she left the pavement and ended up striking the bridge support for an overpass carrying eastbound cars over I-94.
The 22-year-old woman suffered non-life threatening injuries, but her car was totaled.
She is being treated at Bronson Methodist. Investigators have ruled out speed and alcohol and are looking into other possible causes.
They are also looking for any witnesses.
