PORTAGE (WKZO) — We still don’t know why, but we now know the names of the two women involved in a shooting on a quiet street corner in Portage Wednesday.
44-year old Theresa Lynn Petto, of Hastings has been charged with assault with intent to commit murder and felony firearm.
Rachel Drafta, a woman in her 20’s remains hospitalized in critical condition at Bronson Methodist.
Police say they were acquaintances, but won’t go any further.
The shooting took place on French Bay Drive at the intersection with Old Mission St. in southwest Portage, at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday in the driveway of Drafta’s parents.
Police say Petto opened fire with a small caliber handgun, shooting Drafta at least once in the head.
Rather than flee the scene, Petto walked down Old Mission, knocking on a neighbor’s door, asking them to call 9-1-1 and get help, not seemingly interested in concealing her identity.
She reportedly admitted everything to detectives who are keeping a tight lid on that information.
She is being held on a million dollars bond.
