Minneapolis, MN — (WKZO) All Detroit wanted to do heading into the Allstar break was to win in Minnesota but couldn’t get it done, Tigers starter Shane Greene took the bump against Sota and got rocked early. Bottom 1st Minnesota’s (DH) Miguel Sano steps up and hit a 2 run shot giving Sota a 2-0 lead. With Minnesota up 2-1; the 4th inning would be one that Tigers starter wants to forget as Minnesota exploded for 4 runs on a RBI single by (CF) Aaron HIcks, a 2 run triple to right over the head of J.D. Martinez by (SS) Danny Santana, and finally a RBI Sac fly by Brain Dozier. Detroit relievers couldn’t stop the bleeding as Sota tacked on one more in the 5th making it a 7-1 ball game. As for Minnesota starter Kyle Gibson well he was magnificent against Tigers batting holding them at bay from making any kind of rally to get back into the game throwing 99 strikes to just 66 balls and also had the ground ball working recording 10 outs. Sota handed Detroit their 3rd loss in a row with a 7-1 victory. Minnesota’s Kyle Gibson (8-6) gets he win lasting 7 strong innings with 6 K’s while Detroit’s Shane Greene (4-7) gets the loss going just 4 2/3 innings, allowing 7 runs (all earned), 7 hits, 3 walks, 2 K’s. Tigers will begin the second half of the season after the Allstar break on Friday July 17th when they host Baltimore at Comerica Park @ 6:40 pm on WKZO Article by Shawn Harris
