BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek Police Department will join Battle Creek’s second annual Faith and Blue event on Saturday, October 8, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Claude Evans Park located at 320 North Washington Avenue.
Organizers say the annual event is part of National Faith and Blue Weekend, which focuses on resolution and reconciliation, and is a collaborative effort to build bridges and break biases between law enforcement and communities.
Hosted by the Calhoun County Faith-Based Coalition and Calhoun County law enforcement agencies, this year’s event will include BCPD, as well as both the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police.
Command staff representation from each department will attend, to engage in an open forum with the community. This community discussion will include an interview panel of both faith leaders and law enforcement officers, during which neighbors will have the opportunity to pose questions about policing and safety in the community.
After the open forum, neighbors and law enforcement officers will be able to interact more casually with neighbors able to join officers on the basketball court and for other yard games.
