KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Veterans Events Committee is seeking nominations for the 2022 Kalamazoo County Veteran of the Year Award.
The award honors the work of a Kalamazoo County Veteran whose contributions to veteran communities and organizations, in addition to their own communities, go above and beyond.
Those wishing to submit a veteran for the award have until Sunday, October 9th to do so.
The nominee will be announced at the Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 11, at 2:00 p.m. at the Robert L. Cook Veterans Memorial Plaza at Rose Park in Kalamazoo.
The award is presented by organizations that sponsor the Kalamazoo County Veterans Day Ceremony: The Rotary Club of Kalamazoo-Sunrise, Kalamazoo County Veterans Service Office, and other organizations and individuals in the Kalamazoo County Veterans Events Committee.
Each submission should contain the following information: Their name and/or nominating organization and telephone number, the veteran’s name and telephone number, military branch, and the era of service.
Submissions can be emailed to KalamazooVeteransEvents@gmail.com or mailed to the Kalamazoo County Veterans Service Office at 311 East Alcott Street, Kalamazoo, MI, 49001.
A description of why the veteran deserves this year’s top honor highlighting the veteran’s involvement with veteran organizations, volunteer activities related to veterans, involvement with other volunteer organizations/charities, and service to the community needs to be included in the submission.
