SOUTH HAVEN (WKZO) — Van Buren County detectives are looking for the vandals who invaded a summer camp for Jewish children and left swastikas drawn with spray paint.
The graffitti appeared sometime in the late evening Saturday or early morning hours on Sunday at Camp Agudah in Geneva Township near South Haven.
For the children at the camp and the camp staff, it became a learning moment, an opportunity to remember some history and some of the prejudice that remains.
For County Sheriffs investigators, it could be considered a serious hate crime, and the FBI has been called in to assist in the investigation.
It may just be an ignorant act of vandalism by local teens. A reward is being offered for information that leads to the capture and prosecution of the vandals.
Deputies believe that more than one vandal was involved.
