KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — The Jury in the Marie McMillan murder trial Kalamazoo County Circuit will resume deliberations this morning after spending about an hour behind closed doors yesterday.
Christopher Oros is charged with stabbing McMillan nearly 30 times last November, and then returning later to set her apartment on fire to cover up any evidence he was there.
Oro’s defense attorney claimed in closing arguments that she actually attacked him first and that Oros was just defending himself.
The jury has a lot to decide. Oros faces felony and open murder counts, which means the jury could pick from a range of homicide charges.
They must also consider a separate charge that Oros attempted a jail escape months later while he was awaiting trial in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
