PORTER TOWNSHIP, INDIANA (WKZO) — At about noon Sunday, a police helicopter, called in to aide in the search for the missing Calvin College student spotted her body floating about 300 yards from shore, just under the surface off Porter Beach as anxious swimmers watched from shore.
Her Father was able to make positive identification Sunday Afternoon. Toxicology tests are planned but they don’t expect to find anything surprising.
20-year-old Chase Froese of Carol Stream, a Chicago suburb was headed back two Grand Rapids with two friends when they decided to stop and go for a swim near the Indiana Dunes Friday evening.
Unfortunately high waves were creating dangerous rip currents and it’s believed she got caught up in one and drown.
