KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — The Kalamazoo County Fair is one of the oldest in the state and it has seen a lot of firsts, but this will be the first one that has ever been bird-free.
In keeping with State orders, 4-H students who raised prize chicken, turkeys and geese this year have been ordered to keep them isolated to avoid the spread of Avian Flu.
Fair Director Roxanne Bruce says it extends beyond the 4-H barns, she had been negotiating to bring a birds of prey show to the fair this year. That also had to be cancelled.
She says they have so other many new things scheduled this year that they will get by without the birds
This year the Fair begins on Monday the 10th and runs through the week. .
