KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department is set to provide the Pfizer bivalent COVID-19 booster dose Thursday and Friday, September 15 and 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
County health officials say the doses will be given by appointment only at these times at the Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services location at 311 East Alcott in Kalamazoo. They went onto say that the bivalent booster provides additional coverage against the omicron variant of COVID-19, with the Pfizer vaccine approved and recommended for those 12 and older, and the Moderna vaccine approved and recommended for those 18 and older.
“We encourage all members of the community to receive the bivalent COVID-19 vaccines.” said Jim Rutherford, Health officer at Kalamazoo County Health & Community Services Department. “The additional coverage against the Omicron variant will prevent the vulnerable members of our community from experiencing adverse health outcomes due to COVID-19. If you are unable to receive the vaccine at one of our clinics this week, please do not hesitate to find an available vaccine near you.”
Appointments to receive the vaccine are available online and be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Appointments for these days may be scheduled here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0B4CA5AF29A2FB6-pfizer
