KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — The Kalamazoo County Fair begins on Monday with a special emphasis on providing activities for children, and by that we mean kids of all ages, because a lot of the activities would not only be of interest to kids.
The Fair will always provide the things you expect from a County Fair, the Midway, the grandstand events, the 4-H displays and animal judging, and the food concessions.
There are special activities every day this year during the week long fair.
Monday is Seniors Day with special activities, entertainment and events for area residents on the upper end of the demographic curve. There will also be a free luncheon. Seniors are all half price.
Tuesday is “Science Palooza Day, organized by the Michigan Science Center, there will be a number of hands on displays, experiments and learning experiences for kids.
Wednesday is “Fairy Tale Day” with magicians, princes and princesses and swordfights in full armor.
Thursday is “Dinosaur Day” featuring a program designed by the University of Michigan Natural History Museum that focuses on fossilsFootprints and fun, complete with its own fossil dig that kids can explore.
Friday is Animal Adventure day with stuffed animals, a Classic K-9 performance and other activities.
It all builds up to Saturday which is called “Brick Building Day” and is all about Legos, using them, building with them, and viewing some of the amazing things that others have built.
There will be free grandstand entertainment every evening Tuesday through Saturday leading up to the Combine Demolition Derby Saturday night.
Daily admission is $6, kids from 6 to 12 are $2, and kids 5 and under are free. Parking is free, and most days there will be free gifts for the first kids through the door.
