KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — State Police are calling it a car jacking but the prosecutors are calling it something else.
Lt. Dale Hinz says it began late Tuesday night when a woman later identified as 46-year-old Brenda Macon jumped into a car waiting at a stoplight at Burdick and Stockbridge in Kalamazoo and demanded that the driver, a complete stranger drive her to “Centreville Hospital”.
The driver followed the directions given to her, and eventually asked if she could call her mother. Instead she called a friend, managed to tip her off she needed help, gave her their position and the friend called police.
State Police made the stop and took Macon into custody without incident.
The 46-year-old from Dowagiac is being held for assault and battery.
