PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Paw Paw post are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Van Buren County.
Authorities say it happened around 7:30 Tuesday evening, August 30, on Mill Lake Road in Bloomingdale Township near Gobles.
Preliminary investigation showed that the driver, a 53-year-old Gobles woman, was driving westbound in a Black Dodge Caravan on Mill Lake Road, west of M-40, when she struck 59-year-old Gobles resident Dennis Hale, who was standing by his bike on the side of the road.
Hale succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Caravan suffered only minor injuries. Seatbelt use is unknown at this time, and police say that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors at this time.
The investigation of the accident remains open pending lab analysis and prosecutor’s review.
