KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Kalamazoo Public Safety is treating a fire just west of the WMU campus in the Arcadia neighborhood as a likely arson after fires had to be doused there twice this week.
The first time on Monday, the fire was discovered on the back porch at 4:24 a.m. The fire was quickly extinguished by a resident and was considered suspicious.
The second time occurred Wednesday and this time the firebug used a flammable liquid to get it started at practically the same time in the morning as the Monday fire.
This time it was too big for the occupant to put out so he got his roommate out and called for help.
By the time the first fire crews arrived, the single story home was completely engulfed in flames.
The Fire Marshal is running tests, doing interviews, looking for motives and they hope to find the person responsible.
