THREE RIVERS (WKZO) — Three Rivers Police are offering few details about the motive or the circumstances for their latest homicide, but apparently two men were having a dispute that came to an abrupt end when one of them pulled out a gun and shot the other.
28-year-old Westly George has been charged with open murder and four felony gun counts for the shooting death of 24-year-old Eugene Jackson Thursday evening near State and South Main Streets in Three Rivers. .
George was apprehended just a short distance from the scene of the crime in an alley at Broadway and Main Street.
Forensic crews and officers spent much of the night scouring a large area roped off by police tape, apparently looking for the murder weapon and other evidence.
It’s not known if they were successful.
The victim, Jackson was reportedly airlifted to an emergency room in Kalamazoo where he was listed as dead on arrival.
