NEW YORK (WKZO) — Twenty-two high schools in Michigan are included in the latest America’s Top High Schools list by “Newsweek” magazine.
The publication recognizes the 500 best high schools in the country, with International Academy in Bloomfield Hills coming in at the top for Michigan and eighth nationally. Grand Rapids City Middle/High School is 43rd nationally, with East Grand Rapids High School coming in 99th and third in the state.
No Schools in the southwest most counties made the top 500, but two schools made the list of schools that exceeded expectation, given their size and poverty rates.
New Buffalo High ranked 221st. and Lawton ranked 407th.
The College Readiness Index used to rank the schools is based on college enrollment rate, graduation rate, SAT/ACT composite scores, student retention, counselor-to-student ratio and advanced placement/International Baccalaureate/duel enrollment composite.
