LANSING (WKZO) — Who was the so-called “blackmailer” that rep. Todd Courser claims was making his life miserable?
We don’t know yet, but police are looking into it and may be able to crack that nut.
A private investigator working for M-Live tried to identify the person who bought the disposable cell phone used to make the so-called “Blackmail” texts to Todd Courser, and says it appears that the person gave the name “Todd Courser” when buying the so-called “burner phone” from the 313 area code.
That conflicts with another Private Investigator, working for Cindy Gamrat, who reportedly identified the phone’s purchaser as C. Livingood, the misspelled name of the Detroit News reporter who broke the story.
No one is required to show I.D. when buying such a phone, and Courser is denying that he did it, adding another twist to the convoluted plot.I
t may all be irrelevant anyway. The early leaks suggest that the ”misconduct and the misuse of taxpayer resources” cited by House
Business Office Director Tim Bowlin in his investigation had nothing to do with either the affair or the convoluted cover-up.
The internal house investigation into the Courser-Gamrat affair will be released sometime today or tomorrow, but the spokesperson for Speaker Kevin Cotter, Gideon D’Assandro says it won’t be the whole report.
It will be a summary. The only people who will get a copy of the whole report will be the Select committee appointed to determine if punishment is appropriate.
Democratic Party Leader Brandon Dillon wants the whole report. He says there are questions about why Speaker Cotter failed to act despite learning about the scandal and the cover-up months ago.
Dillon claims the report we will see has been sanitized by Cotter’s lawyers and then summarized by the Speaker. He alleges it may just be an extension of the cover-up.
