LANSING (WKZO) — “The Quadrant”, the House and Senate leadership from both parties met on Thursday with Lt. Governor Brian Calley to seek a compromise on road funding.
The participants of the closed door meeting all said they made progress toward a deal, but no deal yet.
Calley says the state’s solvency is just as important as roads and the plan the Republican leaders are pitching threatens that solvency by calling on future legislatures to carve $600-million out of the general fund each year for roads.
It doesn’t appear like there will be any real work done on the roads bill until September, with few predicting a solid end date.
Everyone agreed the meeting was otherwise productive but unfortunately that was all they agreed on. .
