GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) — Former Major Leaguer, now state prison inmate Chad Curtis walked into a preliminary hearing yesterday and for the most part, struck out.
The former ball player is representing himself, pleading poverty. He was asking for the judge’s permission to question the young women who claim they were molested by Curtis and are now suing him and the Lakewood School District for 4-milion-dollars.
He claims they are liars who are just looking for a payday.
The lawyers for the plaintiffs said he would be victimizing the woman all over again.
Judge Ellen Carmody ruled that Curtis would have to submit his questions for approval ahead of time, may be permitted to question them over a video link-up or that she could ask his questions. He says that will hamper his ability to defend himself.
