LANSING, MI — The Lansing School District announced this morning it will no longer provide school bus transportation to and from the district’s high schools for students in 9-12 grades. Beginning this fall high school students will need to depend on public transportation or drive themselves.
The school says all eligible high school students in the district will receive unlimited bus passes through the Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) in order to ride CATA buses. Students will need to walk to the nearest CATA bus stop to catch a ride, school officials say.
All students in K-8th grades will still have transportation provided by Dean Transportation, which contracts the service with the school, when school resumes for fall on Aug. 29.
