DETROIT, MI. (WKZO) – After Detroit’s impressive 6-0 win on Saturday night snapping a three game losing streak vs Kansas City thanks in part to Tigers starter Alfredo Simon. Detroit looks to make it two in a row and take this series against the Tribe, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus sent Justin Verlander to the hill against Indians starter Cody Anderson, Verlander has been impressive in his last 8 games with a .153 ERA and hold his opponents to a low of .194 batting ave. The game was nil-nil thru 5 but that would all change top 6th as Cleveland drew first blood with two on (SS) Francisco Lindor triples in the gap to right center; both Michael Martinez and Jason Kipnis come around to score followed by a RBI single to center by Carlos Santana, Francisco Lindor scores 3-0 Tribe. Cleveland starter Cody Anderson kept the Detroit bat silent thoughout the game and dominating their offense. Cleveland add on more in the 9th on a RBI single by Michael Martinez (CF) Abraham Alamonte scores. Detroit loses to Cleveland 4-0. Cleveland’s (SP) Cody Anderson (3-3) gets the win going 7 strong shut out innings, 0 runs, 2 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikes outs. Detroit’s (SP) Justin Verlander (3-7) gets the loss lasting 7 innings, 3 runs, 7 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strike outs.
