Moped driver taken to the hospital with injuries after accident; was not wearing a helmet

HOLLAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Ottawa County Police are investigating a moped accident that sent it’s driver to the hospital on Saturday, July 30.

Authorities say it crash happened around 6:55 p.m on 8th Street near the Quality Car Wash in Holland Township.

Investigation on scene revealed that the moped driver, a 31-year-old Holland man was traveling westbound on 8th Street with family following behind him.  The driver then looked behind at his family, and looked back forward, and then crashed into the curb.

The Holland City Department of Public Safety arrived on scene and assisted with patient care.  The driver was transported to the Holland Community Hospital by AMR with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash which remains under investigation.
