DETROIT (WKZO-AM) — President Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, the Vice President’s wife, will be traveling to Macomb Community College near Detroit on Wednesday to talk about investing in worker training and how it will boost the economy.
He may also mention his executive order issued on Labor Day, requiring federal contractors to provide sick pay for employees.
“I signed a new executive order requiring federal contractors to allow employees who work on our contracts to earn up to seven paid sick days a year,” Obama said.
The president wants Congress to approve legislation requiring all employers to provide sick pay for employees.
The question of sick pay for Michigan workers could appear on the ballot next year if a petition initiative is successful.
