BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Visitors to Binder Park Zoo will enjoy a rare musical treat on Sunday, July 31, when guest musicians of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra (KSO) will perform a series of mini-concerts on zoo grounds.
MUSIC at the ZOO will be a series of three animal-themed performances selected to entertain and delight both zoo-goers and music lovers!
“Giraffes Can’t Dance” is a whimsical composition based on the book by Giles Andrae about a giraffe who learns to dance to the beat of his own drum. The String Quartet of the KSO will perform “Giraffes Can’t Dance” in the African Village of Wild Africa at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
“Peter and the Wolf” is Sergei Prokofiev’s classic symphonic fairy tale. The Woodwind Quintet of the KSO will perform “Peter and the Wolf” at the Dr. Edward Drew & Dr. Pamela Buitendorp-Drew Wolf Exhibit at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
“Carnival of the Animals” is the humorous musical suite composed by Camille Saint-Saëns. The Brass Quintet of the KSO will perform “Carnival of the Animals” inside Zoorassic Park at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
