GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO-AM) — One of six Detroit-based men accused of using stolen credit card numbers to buy expensive electronics at Meijer stores throughout west Michigan has pleaded guilty to wire fraud.
Devin Dixon-Ryles faces up to 30 years when he’s sentenced in January for his part in the so-called “carding” scheme.
Federal prosecutors say Dixon-Ryles, along with the other men, used the accounts found in hacked online databases to buy roughly $140,000 in Meijer gift cards, which would then be used to purchase iPads, iPhones and gift cards to be used at other stores.
Four men, including Dixon-Ryles, were indicted in March. Another two suspects were arrested last month.
