CLEVELAND, OH. (WKZO) – Detroit’s Justin Verlander took the bump vs the Tribe with a 1-0 lead looked pretty strong from the start until the 5th when Cleveland hit him up for 3 runs as Chris Johnson and Franciso Lindor each singled and Cleveland is out in front 3-1. Detroit get one run back in the 6th on a sac fly by Nick Castellanos and Detroit is down 3-2. Once again Indians Chris Johnson RBI single in bottom of the 6th puts the Tribe up 4-2. Cleveland add 2 more in the 7th and one more in the 8th and the Tribe take game one 7-2. Cleveland’s Cody Anderson (4-3) gets the win going 5 2/3 innings, 2 runs, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts while Detroit’s Justin Verlander ( 3-8) gets the loss lasting 6 innings, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts.
