LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August stood at 5.1 percent, which equals the national average.
It’s the lowest monthly jobless mark in over 14 years, officials with the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget said.
Numbers from the agency showed that total employment rose two tenths of a percent to nearly 4.49 million, while unemployment fell by two tenths of a percentage point from the July level.
A year ago, the state’s jobless rate stood at 6.8 percent.
