OSHTEMO (WKZO-AM) — Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who failed to snatch a purse from a 68-year-old Kalamazoo woman in the parking lot of the Meijer on West Main Street in Oshtemo.
Investigators say the victim, a 68-year-old Kalamazoo woman, was walking through the lot about 10:45 a.m. Friday when a car pulled up next to her and a young black male jumped out, grabbing her purse and knocking her over.
She clutched the purse and refused to let go, not allowing him to take her property. He gave up, jumped back into the car and fled empty-handed, according to a Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The black male is described as being in his late teens, about 5-foot-7 and thin. They say the getaway car is a white four-door, possibly a Chrysler Concord with a sunroof.
Detectives say they’ll be going through store surveillance tapes and pursuing other leads.
