KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The chair of the Michigan Republican Party says Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat are doing their districts a disservice by opting to run for their old House seats again.
On Tuesday’s edition of Kalamazoo’s Morning News, Ronna Romney McDaniel said the decision by both former representatives last week transcends partisan politics.
“This is something much bigger than that, it’s about the constituents in the 80th and 82nd districts and the representation,” she said.
She also said, despite Democratic outcry, the length of the investigation into the use of taxpayer resources to cover up the sexual relationship was appropriate.
“They admitted to the wrongdoing,” she said. “If you’re in a court of law and you admit to the wrongdoing, you don’t have a trial.”
Courser resigned during a marathon session that began Sept. 10 and ended during the early-morning hours of Sept. 11. Gamrat was expelled from the House an hour after Courser chose to leave office.
