KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Western Michigan University’s public safety department is on the lookout for a suspect in an armed robbery at West Hills Athletic Club that took place around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5.
A Western Michigan University spokesperson told MLive that one man entered the athletic club own by WMU, and was followed by another man who then demanded the first man’s physical property while implying that he had a gun in his possession.
The first man turned over his property to the suspect who then took off in a black Saturn vehicle according to a tweet from WMU Public Safety.
WMU authorities describe the suspect as a 5’7” man in a white shirt, jeans and a black New York Yankees hat.
According to MLive, a verbal altercation between the individual and the suspect started at a nearby gas station and that the individual who was staying at a nearby hotel, sought refuge at the health club and gym located at 2001 South 11th Street in Osthemo Township.
The incident is currently under investigation by WMU Police.
