LANSING (WKZO-AM) — A new report by the Michigan Campaign Finance Network says lobbyist spending in Lansing is up about 1.3 percent compared to last year.
The total doled out to sway lawmakers during the first seven months has eclipsed the $21 million mark, with the top ten lobbyist firms all spending at least $210,000. The top company has already spent nearly $1 million in 2015.
That combined figure is sharply higher than the $345,000 spent by state governmental departments and the $73,000 spent by unions.
The watchdog group said, this year, lobbyists are focusing hard on influencing Michigan’s energy policy.
