BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A Battle Creek first-grader is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police say the six-year-old entered an unlocked apartment in a complex on Greentree Boulevard at about 6 p.m. Thursday.
He found the man’s loaded gun and shot himself in the hand. The wound was not considered life-threatening.
The gun owner, who does not have children, may not be liable criminally, but might be liable in civil court if the boy is permanently disabled.
