DETROIT (WKZO-AM) — AAA says the average price for a gallon of gas in Michigan is trending higher.
“Statewide, we’re looking at around $2.43 a gallon,” Susan Hiltz, a spokesperson with the auto club, said on Monday. “That’s about nine cents more than last week, but it is 99 cents lower than it was last year.”
Hiltz said prices are being pushed higher by refinery maintenance and a slow transition to cheaper winter-blend gasoline, but also said the trend higher shouldn’t last much longer.
“We are still predicting that prices will continue to decline into the end of the year,” Hiltz said.
Hiltz says Marquette has the lowest average gas price at $2.34. Traverse City has the highest average price at $2.47.
The average price in Kalamazoo is $2.37, according to GasBuddy.com.
