KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The number of cases of coronavirus at Western Michigan University since students returned to campus have increased twofold.
As of Friday, 37 new positive cases were reported, an increase of 21 new cases since the last two-week reporting period.
Students began coming back to campus August 9, and classes began this past Wednesday.
University officials believe that the increase in cases is due to the increase in testing at WMU. Students and employees can get tested free of charge at the Sindecuse Health Center this fall.
