KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The average price for a gallon of gas in Kalamazoo has jumped to $2.52 this week.
“That’s up 20 cents a gallon,” Gregg Laskoski with GasBuddy.com said Thursday. “We’re seeing, statewide, the average is up to $2.51, and that’s up 10 cents a gallon.”
Laskoski said supply-and-demand is the key factor. He says Midwest refineries have chosen to pull back on production because people tend to drive less in the fall.
“We did see, last week, a spike in Chicago wholesale gasoline prices, and that’s being passed on to consumers,” Laskoski said.
But Laskoski also said prices will eventually drop as more stations finish their transition to cheaper winter-blend fuel.
