PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The investigation continues in Uvalde, Texas where equipment issues and communication problems apparently delayed police response to a mass killing that led to the death of 19 students and two adults.
This prompted Portage City Officials to huddled with their Police Chief and others in the department to review how they would respond to such an incident. Council Member Terry Urban says he was reassured by their plan, which he says will not be made public.
Urban says he liked what he saw.
Urban also proposed expanding the number of Resource Officers they have in the Schools to provide more coverage in Middle Schools.
The city and the school district currently splits the cost of funding SRO’s.
