OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate a shoot-out Friday night in a liquor store parking lot in Oshtemo Township.
Police say shortly after 10:07 p.m. in the parking lot of Bronco Liquor discount store, located at 5034 W. KL Avenue, located in the Township of Oshtemo, two groups of subjects got into a verbal altercation, which led to a volley of gunshots between the two groups. KCSD lab techs collected approximately forty shell casings found at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Department says the exchange of gunfire came at a busy time of evening, with a parking lot of several bystanders and shoppers, along with multiple vehicles traveling on Drake Road and KL Avenue. No injuries were reported.
The suspect in the white Chevrolet Malibu fled the scene and have yet to be identified by authorities.
The second group of suspects who occupied a grey Dodge Charger have been identified and multiple arrests have been made. These individuals were caught on video surveillance systems firing multiple rounds at the suspects in the white Chevrolet Malibu.
These arrests occurred after the suspects and their vehicle were tracked by KCSD Deputies to a home in Americana Estates Trailer Park and a KDPS PSO officer located the car. At that residence a search warrant was executed. KCSD authorities were assisted by KDPS Metro SWAT team with the execution of this warrant. KCSD detectives were able to recover two of the guns used in this incident.
Charges against three individuals are pending and the investigation continues.
