BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Two men are being treated for gunshot wounds at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo and a third remains after a botched robbery in Battle Creek.
Allegedly, the men lured the son and his father from Grand Rapids using a fake offer for a car on Craigslist.
The man brought his son, and, almost as soon as they rolled up to the abandoned home in the 600 block of Linwood Avenue in Urbandale, they were ambushed.
The victim’s son had a concealed weapons permit, and, in the altercation that followed, the bad guys were all forced to flee. At least two of them suffered gunshot wounds.
One suspect fled for about a block before giving. Another got two blocks away.
The victim and his son both received minor injuries. Police aren’t seeking charges against the father and son, saying that they acted in self-defense.
UPDATE – 10/7 at 9:02 a.m.: The third suspect has been arrested. Police say the man was found in the 100-block of North Broadway Boulevard.
