KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A project to improve Kilgore Road between Oakland Drive and Westnedge Avenue is scheduled to start on Wednesday, June 8.
The project will include milling and resurfacing with new asphalt, narrowing vehicle lanes, and widening bike lanes.
The bike lanes will also be extended from Oakland Drive to just before the Westnedge Avenue intersection.
Curbs will be repaired, and sidewalk ramps will be upgraded to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
In addition, structural adjustments will be made to level the roadway surface and improve stormwater flow.
This work will require a westbound detour for a portion of the project.
The detour schedule is currently being finalized but is expected to last approximately one to two weeks in mid to late July.
Signed detour routes and message display boards will be present. Eastbound traffic will be maintained throughout the project.
