KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo City Commissioners will be taking up some unfinished business at their meeting tonight.
A routine ordinance update that was on their last agenda was tabled because commissioners wanted more time to review it.
Planning Staffer Christina Anderson says rewording chapter 50 of the zoning ordinance will simplify specific problem sections, to make them easier to understand and follow.
It rewrites regulations for marijuana operations, adult-only, home permitted uses and other zoning requirements to clarify the city’s intentions.
The changes are extensive and commissioners asked for extra time to study them.
The changes have already been approved by the city’s Planning Commission, which has joined staff in recommending the updates.
The Kalamazoo City Commission this evening will also take up their long discussed sustainability plan. The goal is to make the city a greener, more fuel efficient, and environmentally responsible place.
They will also consider allowing fishing at Milham Park, which is undergoing other major renovations. It will take a change in the parks ordinance to allow anglers in the south side park.
This afternoon’s Committee of the Whole meeting has been canceled.
