KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan football coach P.J. Fleck is expecting a tough challenge against hated rival Central Michigan this Saturday at Waldo Stadium.
“They can run the football, but they can really throw it,” Fleck said. “They’re having a lot of success completing footballs, and I think that comes between the trust of the wide-outs, trust on the offensive line, trust on the tight ends, and trust of the defense that they really can throw the ball.”
The 1-3 Broncos are coming off a bye week after falling 38-12 to No. 1 Ohio State. They started the season with a narrow loss to No. 4 Michigan State.
Fleck says his team must improve its fundamentals, but also believes WMU can compete against anybody in the country, including the Chippewas.
“We’ve just got to play better, and, if we can do that, if we can minimize our errors, we can maximize our big plays.”
Kickoff is at noon. The game can be heard on 96.5 WZOX-FM in Kalamazoo.
