HOLLAND (WKZO-AM) — A Holland man convicted in Illinois 18 years ago of murder and attempted murder is in custody on federal gun and drug charges.
According to prosecutors, law enforcement seized firearms in the vehicle of Harold Shields Jr. during a traffic stop a month ago. About two weeks later, after being freed on bond, he was pulled over again, with more weapons, crack and heroin.
A search warrant of his apartment unit found ammunition and paperwork that is believed to have been involved with the seized drugs.
Shields has a detention hearing in Grand Rapids on Friday.
