BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – An unattended candle is being listed as the cause of a Tuesday night fire which caused nearly $18,000 worth of damage to a home at 304 Garfield Avenue in Battle Creek.
All of the occupants got out safely but two of the residents had to be treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The fire was reported at 7:10 p.m..
Firefighters found fire and smoke coming from a second story bedroom when they arrived.
Battle Creek fire officials say the fire was under control within 10 minutes and damage was minimized due to the quick action of firefighters.
The damage was limited to a second floor bedroom.
