ALBION (WKZO-AM) — A member of the Albion City Council is defending himself after he was charged with one count of second-degree criminal sexual assault.
The criminal complaint claims Maurice Barnes inappropriately touched a young girl in late September, but Barnes says it never happened.
The 60-year-old has been working in the lunchroom and as a crossing guard for Albion Public Schools for years.
The Judge has ordered that he stay away from anyone under 16 and off school property as a condition of his $30,000 bond.
Because he has a previous drug record, he could face up to 22 years in prison if convicted.
