KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo Township man accused of fatally stabbing his estranged wife has been found mentally competent to stand trial.
43-year-old David Lain, charged with one felony count of open murder in the January 9th death of 37-year-old Melissa Lain, was found mentally competent on April 27th in Kalamazoo County District Court.
His wife had filed for divorce three months before she was killed.
During his preliminary examination on Tuesday, May 17, a judge determined there was enough probable cause to send Lain’s case to circuit court, where it will head toward a jury trial.
