KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan head football coach P.J. Fleck is urging civility and legal system reforms after Michigan punter Blake O’Neill became the target of death threats following U-M’s loss to MSU last Saturday.
Fleck says similar threats have been targeted at his players after losses and poor performances.
“If we continue to label our players based upon what they do instead of who they are, we’re walking down a very dangerous path,” Fleck said.
Fleck also said that he thinks it’s ridiculous people can make threats through social media without any real legal consequence.
O’Neill fumbled a snap that was returned for an MSU touchdown in the closing seconds of the rivalry game.
