BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A 16-year-old from Albion who allegedly caused a collision that killed three people and injured two others will be tried and could be sentenced to prison.
One of the passengers in the Chevy Trailblazer driven by Shammond Holmes testified Thursday that they was going over 120 mph when Holmes lost control of the vehicle on Interstate 94 last May, shot across the median and slammed head-on into oncoming traffic
A download of the vehicle’s onboard computer verified the speed.
Maseo Moore, 16, Ella Blackwell, 74, and her sister, Ethel Brinstone, 77, were killed in the collision.
Holmes will be tried for five counts of reckless driving, three for causing death and two for causing permanent impairments.
