KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The search for a missing Western Michigan University student in Norway has ended with the discovery of his body.
Dallas Rauker of Lawton went hiking alone on a popular mountain trail over a week ago. Authorities believe he was killed after slipping off a steep incline.
“He had a few days off, and he had planned this hike at home before he even left,” his sister, Alicia Ruble, said.
Ruble said it’s been a trying week not knowing what happened.
“We appreciate everybody’s support and love, but it feels like nothing’s enough.” Ruble said. “My brother’s not coming home.
His family last heard from him on Oct. 19. His parents left for Norway on Saturday before his body was discovered.
He was a senior WMU’s College of Business and was participating in an overseas study program. He was 21.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family.
