Yzerman sticks by his firing of Red Wings coach Blashill

DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Detroit Red Wings executive vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman is defending not rehiring head coach Jeff Blashill.

Yzerman said yesterday that the team had regressed this past season and wanted to try someone new.

He added Blashill is a good coach who ran a “really good program,” and said he did an outstanding job leaving the organization in a rebuild.
