KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Just months after Family and Children Services launched their public campaign for funding, they have reached their goal and broken ground on a new family visitation and learning center.
Their $5.1 million goal was reached with donations from about 500 donors in the community.
CEO Rosemary Gardiner said they hope to create more comfortable facilities for families to work on their issues, and for foster families to meet new children.
“We will not put them in small office spaces anymore,” Gardiner said. “They’ll be in lovely family rooms, just like our own at home, and each will have a slider, and it’ll go out to a little patio where you can have a picnic with your child and have dinner.”
The new facilities will be built next to their current location on Lake Street in Kalamazoo.
